Symbol Mark
The UI of The Catholic University of Korea expresses the university’s vision of becoming a “world-class Catholic university” by reinterpreting traditional Korean imagery into a modern form under the concept of “Korean images as global images,” combining moderation with the harmony of straight and curved lines. The basic color, Intelligent Blue, is used together with white to convey an intellectual and pure image, while gray and silver serve as supportive colors. The blue symbol embodies the image of a Catholic university that, rooted in deep tradition, grows with youth and dynamism. In particular, the lattice pattern at the center spelling “Catholic” symbolizes both woven warp and weft threads and the structure of interconnected cells, thereby conveying the meaning of life while also representing the harmony of tradition and modernity through the Korean characters for “Catholic.”

- The symbol mark of The Catholic University of Korea is a registered trademark, and any unauthorized commercial use constitutes trademark infringement.
- The form and color of the symbol mark must not be altered. Any such modifications may distort its image or weaken its communicative effectiveness.
- The minimum size regulations for the symbol mark are established to ensure proper reproduction. Use below the specified minimum size is prohibited.

- For use between 8mm and 12mm, the specially designed simplified version of the symbol mark, with the outer outline removed, must be reproduced and applied. The minimum size regulation has been set to ensure proper reproduction of the symbol mark; use below 8mm is strictly prohibited. An exception applies when the background is Catholic University Blue.
Exceptional Use
- For use at 11mm or smaller, the specially designed simplified version of the symbol mark, with both the outer outline and the text “CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF KOREA” removed, must be reproduced and applied. Use below 8mm is strictly prohibited.
Symbol Mark Grid
The symbol mark of The Catholic University of Korea, as a core element of the University Identification System (UIS), is the representative emblem and the key component of all visual communications that express the university’s image both internally and externally.
Developed to ensure visual consistency, the symbol mark fosters a sense of unity among members of the university community and conveys a consistent image of the university to the outside world, thus requiring special care in its use.
For large-scale applications where computer output is not feasible, the symbol mark must be precisely drawn in accordance with the grid provided above.
Exclusive Symbol Mark Color
Catholic University Blue
The exclusive color of the symbol mark of The Catholic University of Korea is another key element that distinguishes the university, and must therefore be used in strict compliance with the color regulations.
The use of spot colors is the principle; however, depending on the medium (e.g., newspapers, magazines), four-color process (CMYK) printing may also be used.
In particular, when applying the four-color process, significant variations in brightness and saturation may occur; therefore, colors should be compared with color samples to achieve the most accurate reproduction. When specifying original colors for print media, Pantone Color numbers must be used.
Misuse of the Symbol Mark
If the symbol mark of The Catholic University of Korea is used with unauthorized modifications in shape or color, as shown in the examples below, it may cause confusion or damage to the university’s image. Such use is strictly prohibited.
