The POSTECH-CATHOLIC Biomedical Engineering Institute, established in March 2005, is Korea’s first inter-university joint research institute. It combines POSTECH’s outstanding research capabilities in biotechnology with the Catholic University of Korea’s distinguished clinical expertise to produce world-class research outcomes and advance national science and technology.

Leveraging the exceptional research personnel and facilities of both universities, the Institute aims to commercialize joint research results, not only to advance treatments for intractable diseases but also to contribute to the growth of both universities through revenue generation. It aspires to further promote joint research and, through clinical applications, develop new drugs and advanced medical devices, becoming a world-class biomedical engineering research institution dedicated to alleviating patients’ suffering.
