About Department of Laboratory Animal
The Department of Laboratory Animal was established to: 1) supply and manage laboratory animals required for education and research at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine, its affiliated research institutes, and the clinical research centers under the Central Medical Center; 2) establish and implement international standards for the ethical use of laboratory animals; 3) provide the infrastructure required for developing transgenic animal models in line with current research trends; and 4) provide resources for preclinical studies to be conducted at affiliated institutions.
Regarding domestic and international certifications, the Department was designated as an Excellent Laboratory Animal Facility by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2017 and received full accreditation from AAALAC International (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International) in 2018, which it has maintained to date.
